Meet Our New Sustainable Suppliers: English Wines, Crisps & Scotch Eggs You’ll Love
Over the past year, we’ve been carefully curating a selection suppliers who not only create incredible products, but who also share our commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, and planet-friendly practices.
From English wine in a can that's as beautifully packaged as it is delicious, to Herefordshire grown and made crisps and the most delicious gourmet scotch eggs, we’re proud to show you these wonderful additions to our venue.
The Uncommon - English Vegan Wine in a Can!
The Uncommon Wine
We discovered The Uncommon through their impressive sustainability impact reports, and yes, we were immediately drawn in by their beautifully illustrated cans. But of course we couldn’t just rely on their good looks, we needed to taste them too!
After a team tasting in the garden and a chat with one of the founders (who actually met their partner & co-founder at Nottingham University!), we knew it was the perfect fit.
All their wines are made in the UK, supporting low carbon travel and local agriculture.
You’ll now find the White, Rose & White Bubbly Cans stocked in our dressing room and behind the bar, the perfect pre-wedding tipple!
Sustainability highlight: Vegan, made in England, low food miles, recyclable cans.
Two Farmers – Crisps That Taste as Good as Their Story
Two Farmers Crisps
We’re passionate about championing UK made snacks, and these crisps are beyond delicious.
Two Farmers hand-cook all their crisps using potatoes grown on their Herefordshire farm and power the entire process with renewable energy. Even the packaging is compostable, so when you’re done with the packet we can pop it straight in our compost and it can continue to help our garden thrive!
We once again did a team tasting (aren’t we a lucky bunch!), and there wasn’t a crumb left on the plates. Our team’s favourites? Woodland Mushroom & Wild Garlic, and the Hereford Sausage & Mustard.
They’ve become a bar snack staple, don’t miss them next time you visit.
Sustainability highlight: Farm-to-pack process, compostable bags, renewable energy.
The Gourmegg Company - some of the tastiest scotch eggs we’ve ever tried!
The Gourmegg Company Grazing Table
At a recent corporate event, we met the brilliant team behind The Gourmegg Company, makers of some of the tastiest scotch eggs we’ve ever tried and creating beautiful grazing tables. From classic to black pudding to fiery nduja, their handmade scotch eggs were the star of our team tasting session.
Not only are they utterly delicious, but they’re also a local business, something we’re always keen to support.
Look out for them at some upcoming events here at The Walled Garden, or pay a visit to their lovely deli, Mustard, in Heanor, Derbyshire.
Sustainability highlight: Locally made, small-batch production, supports independent food makers.
