MAY 2018

Apple Cottage

On the 1st of May we decided to go for a wonder around our beautiful grounds at Beeston Fields. Myself (Emily) and Ella had never really gone outside the walls of the Walled Garden so we decided to go and explore with Emma. The sun was shining down on us and we had a lovely hour finding loads of hidden gems of the venue.

Through the little green gate, behind the walls of the venue there is a small house called Apple Cottage which has been abandoned over the years. Pete and Matt have got a project over the next year to transform it into there new potting shed and growing area.

Back inside the walls of the garden we spotted all the new flowers coming through. It is truly amazing seeing how quickly a garden can change within a matter of days/weeks.

Emily’s Photography

Nick our bar supervisor has an amazing talent in photography. In the past he has taken some amazing pictures of the venue and this month, Nick taught myself (Emily) some of his skills. It started with the basics and once I got the hang of it we ventured out to Wollaton Park and into Nottingham town to have some practise (thanks to Ella for being our model for the afternoon!). Over the next few months, I will be taking photos of the gardens to put together a album which will include a timeline of the garden over a year.

Calligraphy Workshop

I went to a calligraphy workshop hosted by Kayleigh Tarrent. I have always had a love for calligraphy/art, so I thought I would give it a try! The workshop was at Bom Bom Patisserie in Loughborough and there was a group of around 10 of us. It felt very strange to begin with using a quill however by the end of the 2 hours I really started to get used to it. I really enjoyed the workshop and I would highly recommend Kayleigh if you are looking for a stationary supplier.

Team WG Day out to Elvaston Castle

Mid-month, the team went for an afternoon out to have some relax time before we got into the thick of wedding season. We went out for lunch then went for a stroll around Elvaston castle. It was a lovely afternoon and the grounds of the castle were beautiful.

CK Couture

CK Couture is a dedicated designer prom dress, evening dress, ball gown and pageant dress boutique based in the beautiful grounds of Darley Abbey, Derbyshire. We stock the most fashion forward and unique styles and designers in the industry. Kara and Bryony went out to meet the owner at the shop to see what she had to offer. She took over the business just over a month and she originally worked with the NHS. I have put the link below for the website:

Save the Date Catch up

It was a sunny warm day and Lydia & Abbi came to have a cup of tea in the garden to have a catch up on how the Wedding Garden Party preparations were coming together. We discussed what suppliers were booked on (you guys are going to love them!) and the layout/flow of the evening. We have never had a garden party like this and we are SO excited for the day. Lydia and Abbi have done an amazing job so far getting stuff together!

The Royal Wedding!

Fairy tales really can come true! How amazing was the royal wedding!? We all sat round the laptop in the marquee waiting for the moment Megan stepped out of the car and how GORGEOUS did she look! (and of course Harry looked handsome as always, we were pleased he kept the beard!) We had a mini afternoon tea in the garden to celebrate Megan and Harry’s marriage in the lavish sunshine.
